The Chaffee County Landfill
Yesterday I visited the "county dump" as it is referred by most residents in Chaffee County. I was in the mood to see something different in the area and thought visiting the county landfill might be interesting. When I arrived at the main gate, I asked the attendant if it was okay to simply drive around to see what the landfill looked like. The attendant smiled and said I was the first person ever to pay a visit to the landfill ... for visiting's sake! As I wandered around, I thought the pile of tires in the foreground with Mt. Princeton in the background would be a fitting photo. I did bring my laptop along, and I am sad to say that unlike the ghost town of St. Elmo, the Chaffee County Landfill does provide wi-fi or have any wi-fi connections in its proximity. ;) -Steve (February 18, 2007)
