Controlled Burn At The Base Of Mt. Princeton
I was busy doing something in the town of Buena Vista (December 2005) when I looked out and noticed smoke coming from an apparent fire at the base of Mt. Princeton. It looked like it was merely a controlled burn, but then I saw a law enforcement vehicle whizzing by in the direction of the burn. Maybe it's not, I thought! Well, I remember having lunch at a local Buena Vista restaurant and even the owner kept looking out the window towards Mt. Princeton, asking and wondering about the fire. When I got home, I called a friend who lived in the vicinity of the fire and he said it was merely a controlled burn. So there! ;) The above photo, by the way, was taken close to the entrance of the Chaffee County Airport, located just southwest of Buena Vista. -Steve |
