Mt. Princeton - November 5, 2006
Yesterday I spent the day at the Great Sand Dunes National Park in the San Luis Valley. I reached the popular High Dune and then trekked over to Star Dune. What an adventure it was! There is something special about the Great Sand Dunes in southern Colorado that grips my soul, and I am very grateful to live fairly close to it. From Buena Vista, it is a straight 100-mile shot south on Highway 285 through Poncha Springs, over Poncha Pass and through sparsely populated Saguache County.
As for the photo above, I drove along Chaffee County Road 328 this morning and captured the morning light gracing the eastern face of Mt. Princeton. It looks like it will be a beautiful day today!
