Poncha Pass - Altitude 9,010 Feet
Yesterday was an interesting day. I went for a drive to the old mining town of Bonanza in Saguache County yesterday, a remote area that has just six year-round residents. The northern San Luis Valley has so many beautiful mountain views and I included a few great shots of the northern Sangre De Cristo Mountains.
The photo above was taken at Poncha Pass, altitude 9,010 feet, which divides the Rio Grande watershed and the Arkansas River watershed. The view above is facing north towards Chaffee County and Mt. Princeton's peak is located on the far right. Mt. Shavano is the tallest peak in the center cluster of mountains and Mt. Aetna (near Monarch Pass) is one of those two peaks to the left.
Then, late last night, I attended a gig by Maniacal, a hardcore metal band based in Buena Vista. They rocked the house last night at the Coyote Cantina and you can see photos from the event here: Maniacal. It was a lot of fun! :)
